Are you an experienced security technician who enjoys solving problems, working independently and helping customers?

Magna Syber Systems is seeking a dependable subcontractor for service calls and small installations involving alarm systems, access control, IP cameras and related network equipment.

This opportunity is suited to an independent technician with their own vehicle, tools, insurance and WSIB coverage. The hourly rate is based on relevant experience and demonstrated technical skills.

What you’ll do

  • Install, service and troubleshoot alarm systems, card access systems, IP cameras, NVRs and related network equipment.
  • Pull, fish, terminate and test low-voltage cabling through walls, suspended ceilings and conduits.
  • Configure IP addresses and troubleshoot basic network connectivity.
  • Explain findings and system operation clearly to customers.
  • Complete service notes, communicate job progress and follow through on assigned work.
  • Work safely on ladders and, where required, scissor lifts or boom lifts.

    What you’ll bring

    • At least two years of hands-on experience installing and servicing security systems.
    • Practical experience with alarms, access control, IP cameras and NVRs.
    • Working knowledge of networking and IP configuration.
    • Confidence using a multimeter, tone generator and other diagnostic tools.
    • The ability to complete assigned service calls and small installations independently.
    • English communication skills sufficient to understand technical instructions, explain issues to customers and write clear service reports.
    • A professional approach, reliable follow-through and pride in clean, accurate work.

    Subcontractor Requirements

    • Your own reliable work truck or suitable service vehicle, tools and test equipment.
    • Current business liability insurance and WSIB coverage.
    • A valid driver’s licence and clean driving record.
    • A satisfactory police record check before the engagement begins.
    • Availability for occasional evening and Saturday assignments.
    • Knowledge of fall prevention and safe work at heights. Existing aerial lift certification is an asset; required training must be in place before applicable assignments.
